The first speakers that will share their expertise at InsuranceERM’s IFRS 17 conference in London on 29 March have been announced.
This year’s in-person event will be held at Grocers' Hall in London and will provide insurers with effective ways to implement their IFRS 17 projects smoothly, as well as best practice for efficient reporting systems, processes and controls.
Speakers at the event will include David Otudeko, assistant director and head of prudential regulation at the Association of British Insurers; Jo Clube, group technical accounting director at Aviva; and William Diffey, chief actuarial officer, Europe at Assurant.
Topics to be discussed at the conference include:
- Disclosures, metrics and comparability: how are insurers viewing and comparing approaches taken by themselves?
- What does performance management under IFRS 17 look like? - Developing a new framework for business steering
- Insurer readiness: bedding in and ironing out the final implementation pain points
- Switching off the programme: managing a smooth handover process and transferring to business as usual
The accounting standard for insurance contracts came into force on 1 January, but KPMG UK has said many insurers have substantial work to complete in H1 this year to report financials under IFRS 17.
