Insurtech funding cools off from 2021 euphoria

Global insurtech funding reduced by almost 50% to $2.5bn in Q1, compared with an all-time high of $4.7bn in Q3 2021.

A report released today by Mapfre, NN Group, venture capital firm Mundi Ventures and Netherlands-based data provider dealroom.co, added that Q2 is showing even more of a slowdown.

The research, however, noted that insurtech funding in Europe totalled $884m in Q1, its second-best quarter and highlighting that Europe is becoming a key geography for insurtech innovation.
